3D Display On iPad 2: Games Next?

I'm definitely seeing gaming possibilities jumping out at me...
OK, this is just too cool. Some clever guys in France figured out this neat gimmick that uses the front-facing camera on the iPad 2 to do head-tracking, and thus shift your perspective to do a pretty effective simulation of a 3D screen. Check out the video:

If you don't see that games are the immediate and obvious application, you must be reading the wrong blog.

This could be very interesting if someone actually builds games around it... a large screen 3DS, if you will. Super Monkey Ball 3D would be an obvious one for this.

It's also worth noting that Apple is expected to move around 40 million iPad 2's this year; latest analyst projections for the 3DS say 11 million units for the year. Hmmm... Which one would I rather develop a game for?

  1. By including some elements and characters around this 3D projection will add new feather into gaming level.
